The latest Ashes Test that took place at Lord's has culminated in a lot of controversy in the world of cricket. Starting with some close catch calls, the controversy reached its peak when Jonny Bairstow was stumped after he casually walked out of the crease after facing a bouncer from Cameron Green at the end of the over.
Australian players appealed and soon enough, the umpire gave it an out. Bairstow had to walk out shaking his head and what followed was a barrage of boos from English supporters. England eventually lost the match by 43 runs despite heroics from Ben Stokes. Many fans and pundits now claim Bairstow's wickets as the turning point of the game and argue that it would have brought the result in England's favour had he not been given out then.
MCC members present at the Lord's long room brandished Australian players 'cheats' as they moved to the dressing room for lunch during the fifth day's play. All in all, the decision has brought Australia and England's cricketing fraternity against each other even more so now.
As time passes, however, more video and instances of Bairstow doing similar antics are resurfacing and Australia are mounting a psychological comeback in this debate taking place all over social media. In another such move, Australia batter Travis Head has come out and revealed his chat with Bairstow that throws all the arguments against that stumping out of the window.
In an interview with LiSTNR Sport, Head revealed that Bairstow claimed to do the same if it came to that. "Last Test at Edgbaston I walked off my crease at the end of the over and the ball got whipped in. I questioned Bairstow would he take the stumps off, he said 'bloody oath I would'. I reminded him of this and said you'd do exactly the same," said Head
