It is another day in the new year and the Big Bash League(BBL) 2023-24 is still giving us some great action. It is match 26 on the 4th of January and this time the Docklands stadium will host the much awaited game between the Melbourne Renegades and the Hobart Hurricanes. The last time these two teams were battling it out the boys from Hobart got the better of them on the back of a brilliant knock by Matthew Wade. But this time the Renegades will have the homeground advantage at the Marvel stadium and they will be looking to get a few more wins under them to finally bring some joy after a terrible start to the season. So will the Renegades finally get their payback or will the Hurricanes roar again that will be something to watch for the fans.
Melbourne Renegades have not had a good season with only a solitary win in the 7 games they have played. The last Melbourne derby was another disappointing game for one time BBL champions. Their chances of a top 4 finish are looking slim for this team as they are languishing at the bottom of the table right now hoping for some good fortunes to come their way. It is also tough to see this team struggle with the big names who are part of this squad as well. Their season will need a boost in their last few games to give them some confidence.
The Hobart Hurricanes have been hot and cold this season with some great performances and some disappointing ones as well. Their season still is in the balance as they do have some games left where they can still make the playoffs. The win against the thunder should give them enough confidence to go forward in this tournament. With 2 wins out of 5 games Nathan Ellis and his boys will want to win every game to fix their place in the top 4 spot and surprise the teams in the process.

REN vs HUR– Likely Pitch Conditions
The Docklands stadium has been a great chasing ground so far where the fast bowlers have come in the game due to the extra bounce, but the pitch seemed to get flatter and better for the batters. The last two games won over here were also won by the side batting second. So it would make sense if the team choses to bowl first on this ground. Even if the team batting first wants any chance of winning they will have to score really big to give themselves a chance in the game. The small boundaries at the ground also do not help the bowlers in this cause which makes this wicket close to being a batting paradise.
