After winning the first ODI of the three-match series by 142 runs, Pakistan locked horns with Afghanistan in the second match which was played at Mahinda Rajapaksha International Stadium, in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. Pakistan won the mach by one wicket in a thrilling last-over finish and Shadab Khan was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant match winning performance. The leg-spinner scored 48 runs off 35 balls with three fours and a six in his innings.
If we talk about the match, Afghanistan skipper, Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored a total of 300 runs with the loss of five wickets after the completion of first innings. The highest scorer for them was their opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz who slammed run a ball 151 runs which included 14 fours and three sixes. The other opener, Ibrahim Zadran smashed 80 runs off 101 balls with six fours and two sixes in his innings.
In crunch situations, Naseem has performed well: Babar Azam
The pick of the bowler for the Men in Green was their left-arm seamer, Shaheen Afridi who snapped two wickets in his spell of 10 overs where he conceded 58 runs. One wicket each was bagged by Naseem Shah and Usama Mir in their respective spells of nine overs and 10 overs, conceding 45 runs and 61 runs, respectively.
The Green Brigade chased down the target of 301 runs in last over with one wicket in hand. The highest scorer for the side was the left-hand batter, Imam-ul-Haq who scored 91 runs off 105 balls with four boundaries. Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam also scored 53 runs from 66 balls with six fours in his innings.
"All credit to boys. When we're starting with the bat, we just tried to get partnerships. Just wanted to see after 40 overs where we stand. Had the quality of batting later on. In crunch situations, Naseem has performed well. Always have to improve in cricket. You're never satisfied. Have to play the natural game. Looking forward to the last match. Looking to carry the momentum," Babar Azam was quoted as saying in the post match presentation.

Afghanistan are unlucky in close games. They would have beaten Pakistan 3-4 times but they slipped at last moment. They failed to hold the nerves. They need to learn from these errors.
