The Asia Cup is one of the most prestigious cricket tournaments in the world, bringing together teams from across the Asian continent to compete for glory. The ongoing Asia Cup in 2023 promises to be a thrilling event, with fans eagerly awaiting the clash of titans on the cricket field.

Asia Cup is hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka with six teams competing in the tournament. One of the tournament favorites Pakistan has already beaten Nepal in the tournament opener in a great fashion and Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets.

The Asia Cup has always been a hotly contested competition, with fierce rivalries and intense matches that have captivated audiences worldwide. One of the greatest rivals of all time in the game, India and Pakistan will be competing today in the 3rd game of the tournament from Pallekele International Stadium, Sri Lanka.

Before the big match, teams are sweating in the nets as India skipper Rohit Sharma was caught on video practicing a reverse sweep. Fans responded to this claimed they were anticipating a brilliant innings from Sharma after seeing the pictures that went viral on social media. Few people have criticized him not to play wrong shots or try anything new and disappoint fans.

First Indian to score 1000 runs in the Asia Cup

On Saturday, Rohit, who is approaching 10,000 runs in ODI cricket, will make his 23rd appearance for India in the Asia Cup (ODIs), making him the joint-most capped player for the Men in Blue in the ODI version of the major continental competition.

Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara are the only players who have scored 1,000 runs in the competition. In terms of most runs, the Indian captain stands fifth, 255 runs short of the 1000-runs threshold. With 971 runs in 23 games, Sachin Tendulkar is once again in front of Rohit. If India advances to the Super Fours stage or the final, they are allowed to play five games. To beat the record, the Indian captain only needs 255 runs over the course of 5–6 games.

What makes this edition even more exciting is that it will serve as a precursor to the ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled for later that year. Teams will be looking to fine-tune their skills and strategies ahead of the World Cup, making every match in the Asia Cup crucial.
