Pakistan began their World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle with a bang as they defeated Sri Lanka 2-0 in a two-match Test series. They won both matches convincingly while players like Saud Shakeel, Agha Salman, and Abdullah Shafique came up with some big performances.

Now, after this win, the famous Pakistan journalist, Farid Khan came up with a bold claim as he tweeted that based on stats, Babar has now won 80% of away Test matches, which is eventually the most by an Asian captain. He also compared with other big captains of the game like Virat Kohli, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Sourav Ganguly.

Here is the shared tweet:

“We wanted to play positive cricket.” - Babar Azam

Speaking of the tweet, he wrote: “Ratio of away Test matches won by Asian captains: - BABAR AZAM 80% - Virat Kohli 44.44% - Misbah Ul Haq 40.60% - Sourav Ganguly 39.28% Babar is maintaining social distancing, he's in different league altogether #SLvPAK #ThePakistanWay.” Seeing that, fans went crazy and slammed the journalist on social media. They also claimed that the sample size for Babar is much less than the other captains that he had mentioned. However, after the series win, the Men in Green skipper looked elated and shared his views during the post-match presentation.

He said: “Very proud to win this series and all credit to guys and the support staff for working so hard in the last 3-4 months. Everyone stepped up and showed hunger to win this series. To be honest we haven't ticked all the boxes, but we are working on our batting and fielding. The way our bowlers bowled here was good because there wasn't much and especially today to put pressure on them. It's a team game, but we've had outstanding innings in both Test matches from Saudi, Salman, Abdullah Shafique. We're looking series by series in the coming games and will try to perform well. Being aggressive was part of the plan, it's something we had discussed before coming here. We wanted to play positive cricket. So all the credit to the boys. It's not easy to play spin here but they played very well.”
