England are all set to take on the World Test Champions Australia for the upcoming Ashes series starting on June 16th. England will be looking to win a Test series against Australia after 2015. Meanwhile, Australia are also looking for their first Test series win in England since 2015.

However, ahead of the most awaited series, England batter Harry Brook revealed his gameplan against the Australian spinner Nathan Lyon in the Ashes. The 23-year-old said that he will acknowledge Lyon’s well-executed deliveries, but is also gonna take charge on the spinner for loose deliveries.

“If he bowls a good ball then I’m going to respect it. But other than that, I’m going to try and take him on. He could get a lot of wickets, but hopefully we’re going to hit him for a lot of runs." Brook was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

I’d like to think I’m a player who can find gaps and hit different gaps, I try and play all around the wicket. I’ll see whatever field he has; I’m sure they’ll probably start with everybody up and we’ll go from there,” he further added.

'It’s a different format, different environment' - Brook on his IPL 2023 form ahead of the Ashes

Notably, Brook didn’t had a great outing in IPL 2023 for Sunirsers Hyderabad after he was picked for a massive sum of ₹13.25 crore in the mini auction by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although, he was the first to score a hundred in the season in the initial stages, he couldn’t continue his form for the rest of the tournament and could only score 190 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 123.38. When was asked about his IPL form ahead of the Ashes, Brook said that both are different formats. It is noted that the England batter will be playing his first Ashes.

“It’s a different format, different environment. I’ve said plenty of times that this environment’s the best I’ve been in and I’m going to go out there and be fearless,” Brook said.

"It's definitely a dream come true to be involved in my first Ashes. I was growing up watching the very best players from England and Australia facing each other. Obviously the 2005 Ashes was a big one. I can always remember the over (Andrew) Flintoff bowled to (Ricky) Ponting and KP (Kevin Pietersen) smacking it everywhere against (Shane) Warne and (Glenn) McGrath, those boys,” he added.
