In the 55th game of the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will square off at the Chepauk. While CSK enters the match having suffered a loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS), DC is on a high following two straight wins against the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

After winning the toss, the home team decided to start batting. However, they struggled to get going as Axar Patel's spin troubled the CSK openers, knocking out both of them for 49 runs within the seventh over. However, Devon Conway survived a few scares before getting out.

In the second ball of the fourth over bowled by Lalit Yadav, the CSK batter was plump in front of the stumps. DC went for a review and the DRS deemed him ‘not out’ due to small spike that was not conclusive proof of him having edged the ball according to many fans online.

Devon Conway survived a similar scare against Khaleel Ahmed

Earlier, when Khaleel Ahmed's delivery was edged by CSK's Devon Conway, wicketkeeper Phil Salt took a simple catch. The on-field umpire, however, decided not to hear anything and rejected the appeal.

However, veteran pacer Khaleel was certain of the advantage and requested that captain David Warner take a review; however, the 36-year-old skipper decided against doing so after talking with Salt. Notably, the 25-year-old pacer did his best to win Warner over, but the international for Australia paid little regard to his arguments. Replays revealed that Conway had actually stolen the ball, but it was already too late for the home team.

However, Conway was unable to show that he was a threat because the New Zealand international only managed to score 10 runs off of 13 pitches. He was defeated by left-arm orthodox Axar Patel in the fifth over of the game when he was unable to make contact with the ball while playing a sweep stroke.

Notably, he displayed signs of discomfort as soon as the DC bowlers surrounded him. He narrowly avoided disaster twice before finally making his way back to the pavilion.
