Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was brutally trolled on social media after being caught on camera consuming food following his cheap dismissal in the first innings of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Ahead of the crucial Day 3, the right-handed batter took to his Instagram to post a cryptic story, which fans believe was in response to the trolls he received.

Australia outclassed India on the first two days of the Ultimate Test. On the back of brilliant centuries from Steve Smith and Travis Head, they posted a highly competitive total of 469 in the first innings. The Aussie bowlers kept the momentum going and put pressure on India's top-order right from the start. Skipper Pat Cummins struck first, trapping Rohit Sharma in front of the wicket.

Soon, India lost another wicket in the form of Shubman Gill, who was bowled by Scott Boland after misjudging the line. The youngster, who has performed well in the Indian Premier League 2023, was also mocked by fans on social media for getting bowled out by leaving the ball outside off-stump. Cheteshwar Pujara, India's Test specialist, also failed on English soil and was dismissed in a similar fashion to Gill.

Kohli had no answer to Mitchell Starc's sharp bouncer

Indian fans had high hopes for Kohli, who was fresh off a strong performance in the IPL 2023, but he was undone by Mitchell Starc's extra bounce delivery. Sharp bouncer from a good length, Kohli can't let it go and can only edge it to slips. Shortly after his dismissal, he was found having food in the dressing room while Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, and Vikram Rathour had conversations around him.

Kohli's gesture was savagely trolled by fans after his dismissal for 14 runs, suggesting he was not serious about India's summit clash with Australia. Some even took the example of Sachin Tendulkar saying that he did not eat for three days after his cheap dismissal against Australia in the 2003 World Cup final.

Following that, Kohli posted a philosophical Instagram Story that appeared to be directed at the trolls he received from fans. "You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourseld from the prison of other peoples' opinions," the full message read.
