Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City maintained their winning streak with a dominant 3-1 win over Leicester City in the Premier League. The defending champions are now only three points behind the league leaders Arsenal after the comfortable win on Saturday. Haaland's remarkable success in the Premier League has continued, as he has now scored 13 goals in his last six outings.

The Norwegian footballer netted a first-half brace to tie Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah's single-season goal-scoring record. Pep Guardiola's men started attacking from the start, with centre-back John Stones scoring in the fifth minute. Their lead was extended in the 13th minute when Haaland comfortably netted a penalty.

The 22-year-old didn't have to wait long to add another to his tally, as he made it 3-0 against relegation-threatened Leicester in the 25th minute with a delightful finish. However, the goal machine could not add more to his account after being substituted at half-time.

He can break all the records as possible: Guardiola on Haaland's impressive performance

Following Haaland's record-breaking performance, City manager Guardiola lauded the striker, saying he has the potential to smash all records.

“I want, I desire, he can break all the records as possible. That means he’s scored a lot of goals, that means that helps us. But I think he wants to win the titles, to be there, and still we are there. But it’s impressive, (we) still have to play eight games and he’s close to breaking all of them," he said.

It would have been a horrible evening for Leinster had Kelechi Iheanacho not netted a corner kick that bounced back from the goalkeeper in the 75th minute.

With the win, City narrowed the gap on table-toppers Arsenal to three points. However, Mikel Arteta's men can maintain their lead if they defeat West Ham on Sunday. City and Arsenal will lock horns at the Etihad Stadium on April 26, with Guardiola well aware of how hard his squad will have to battle in the remaining games.

“It’s win, win and win. (Arsenal) have done an incredible run of the season so far and I don’t think they’re going to drop much points.” As his team head into the last stretch of the season, Guardiola said "we are really good."
