Star Indian cricketer KL Rahul got married to his long-time girlfriend and actor Athiya Shetty on Monday in a private ceremony in Khandala, Maharashtra. The wedding function reportedly took place at Athiya Shetty’s father actor Sunil Shetty's Farmhouse. Soon after the nuptials were completed, the couple shared their wedding photographs for their fans on social media.

“‘In your light, I learn how to love…’♥️ Today, with our most loved ones, we got married in the home that’s given us immense joy and serenity. With a heart full of gratitude and love, we seek your blessings on this journey of togetherness🙏🏽,” both Athiya and KL captioned their post as they shared photographs of their wedding rituals.

The wedding ceremony, attended only by the very closest of the Shettys' family and friends, was "beautiful," said Suniel Shetty, who was wearing a festive traditional outfit. He said that the "father-in-law chakkar" should be removed so that just the 'father' bit remains. "In-law ka chakkar agar hat jaye aur agar father hi rahu toh bhaut khoobsurat hai, kyunki woh part main bhaut ache se nibhaata hoon (It would be great to dispense with 'in-law' and have 'father' remain because that's a responsibility I discharge well)," he said.

The Bollywood actor was also seen distributing sweets to waiting media personnel along with his son Ahan Shetty.

After the wedding, KL Rahul will be re-joining the Indian team for the upcoming four-match Test series against Australia starting on 9th February. The 30-year-old had taken a personal leave from the ongoing ODI series and upcoming T20I series against New Zealand for his wedding.

India and New Zealand to play third ODI today

Meanwhile, Team India will be looking to whitewash New Zealand as the two teams will face off for the third and final ODI of the series at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. The ‘Men-in-Blue’ are leading the series 2-0 after they won the second ODI in Raipur by eight wickets.

Earlier, New Zealand gave India a fight in the first ODI but Rohit Sharma’s men managed to clinch victory in the final over and won the match by 12 runs. After the completion of the ODI series, the two teams will lock horns in a three-match T20I series starting on 27th January in Ranchi.
