Lionel Messi stunned everyone with his decision to join Major Soccer League (MLS) side Inter Miami after becoming a free agent following his exit from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Argentine's transfer saga was a topic of debate in the football fraternity, and it reached a point of disappointment for his fans, who anticipated him to join his previous club, FC Barcelona or Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

The former Barcelona legend, who has accomplished almost everything in the sport after guiding his country to World Cup glory in 2022, was offered a whopping deal by Al Hilal. However, there were reports that Messi has expressed his willingness to join the Spanish giants and that they have received the go-ahead from La Liga to bring back their old forward. In a surprising turn of events, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner decided to become a part of American football.

Barcelona was invented by those who write well or badly about them: Robert Lewandowski

Due to conflicting reports, a weeks-long transfer saga has frustrated Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international said there were daily conflicting reports about Lionel Messi's move to the club before finally revealing he was heading to MLS to join Inter Miami.

"It doesn't make sense to follow the information that tells you that today there is a 90% chance that he will come and the next day a 10% chance," said the former Bayern Munich star, speaking to TVP Sport.

"Information about Barcelona is difficult to follow. They are often invented by those who write well or badly about Barcelona. When I wanted to know information, I knew who to call, and how the situation was, I asked what the possibilities were," the 34-year-old added.

Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona in 2022, had expressed his desire to play alongside Messi after learning that the PSG striker's two-year contract was ending. Messi's new move has denied fans the chance to watch the two play together.
