Babar Azam has silenced his detractors by letting the bat do the talking in the 1st Test against New Zealand at Karachi. He has scored an unbeaten 122 off 196 balls with 11 fours and 1 six. Pakistan were in a spot of bother in the first Test at 48-3 when Abdullah Shafique, Shaan Masood and Saud Imam-ul-Haq were all back in the hut.

Babar forged the first partnership between himself and Saud Shakeel who scored 22 off 34 balls before getting dismissed by Tim Southee. At the fall of Shakeel’s wicket, Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed came and joined Babar at the crease. The two batters took to the Kiwi bowling attack and put all the pressure back on New Zealand. Sarfaraz scored an unbeaten 43 off 57 balls with 7 fours.

People were questioning Babar the captain after the England series drubbing

The right-hander's return to form will be a breath of fresh air for Pakistan as the fans and his teammates will be very happy to see him back among the runs. He did not have the best series against England. He had scored 348 runs in three matches at an average of 58 and a strike rate of 68.91. He had one hundred and three fifties to his name.

His personality as a captain has come under the scanner, he was being blamed for not selecting the right team composition which in the end did not yield the results. He had a poor series as skipper against England as the Men in Green suffered a 3-0 drubbing against England for the first time at home. In what was a historic tour for the Three Lions after 17 years.

His form had been inconsistent and patchy through the series though he had an impact with the bat. He has given all his critics the best reply ever with runs behind his belt. Certain sections of the press questioned Azam’s intent in Test cricket and took a jibe at him saying that he and Mohammad Rizwan do not deserve to be a part of the Test side. Twitter was abuzz, with Babar back amongst the runs. Let us take a look at the reactions here-
