The Pakistani cricket team led by Babar Azam landed in Hyderabad late on Wednesday night. Hyderabad is the venue where Pakistan kick-off their Warm-up and 2023 ODI World Cup campaign.

Pakistan is set to play New Zealand behind closed doors in their first warm-up game on the 29th of September. This will be followed by a game against Australia to round off their preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

It has been a few days of uncomfortable wait for the Pakistani team. Their departure to India was delayed to late arrival of visas. The 1992 World Cup winners though have landed in India in front of a jam-packed crowd.

Fans throng the airport to welcome the Pakistani team for the ODI World Cup 2023

The 15-man Pakistan squad landed in Hyderabad and was welcomed warmly by the crowd. Babar Azam and his team were greeted with warmth as soon as they landed in India. The Pakistan skipper was seen interacting with the security personnel while waiting to exit the airport gates.

Pakistan will play its first 2023 World Cup match against the Netherlands on the 6th of October. The biggest match that the fans are waiting for will happen on October 14th in Ahmedabad. India and Pakistan will clash for the 8th time in the World Cup at the famous Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shaheen Shah Afridi seemed happy with the welcome that was given to him. The left-arm pace bowler took to social media and showed his gratitude after the welcome. Shaheen Afridi wrote, “Hyderabad India, Great welcome thus far."

This is the first time in seven years that a Pakistani team is on Indian soil. The last time Pakistan came to India was in 2016 for the T20 World Cup.

Mohammad Rizwan took to Twitter and wrote “Amazing reception from the people here. Everything was super-smooth. Looking forward to the next 1.5 months”. Babar Azam took to Instagram and wrote “Overwhelmed with the love and support here in Hyderabad."

Pakistan will be without Naseem Shah for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The right-arm fast bowler had injured himself during the game against India in the 2023 Asia Cup game. Hasan Ali was named as Naseem Shah’s replacement.
