Avesh Khan showers praise on this former Indian cricketer

Indian seamer Avesh Khan has credited coach Rahul Dravid and the entire team management for showing faith in him. The pacer impressed many with his bowling skills in the Indian T20 league 2022 where he picked up 18 wickets in 13 games that also included a four-wicket haul.

Khan was on full song in the fourth T20I on Friday where he picked up 4 wickets giving away just 18 runs. Thanks to his stupendous performance, India were able to restrict South Africa to their lowest ever T20 total of 87. Dwaine Pretorius, Rassie van der Dussen, Marco Jensen and Keshav Maharaj were the four victims of Avesh Khan’s spell. Both the teams will now move to Bengaluru for the series decider 5th T20I on 19th June.

The 25-year-old seamer thanked the Indian coach Rahul Dravid for showing faith in him despite him under-performing in the first three T20I. He went on to credit the good environment in the team management that allowed him to perform at his best when the moment came.

"The team hasn't changed over four games, so credit to Rahul (Dravid) sir. He gives chances to everybody and intends to give them a long enough run. He doesn't drop a player after one or two bad performances because you cannot judge a player on the basis of one or two games. Everyone is getting enough matches to prove themselves," Khan said in his post-match press conference.

Khan further revealed that he was under a lot of pressure to perform but coach Dravid and the team management boosted his confidence by giving him another opportunity.

"Yes, there was pressure on me. I had zero wickets in three games but Rahul sir and the team management gave me another opportunity today and I ended up picking four wickets. It's also my papa's birthday, so it's a gift for him too."

With a win in the fourth T20I, India have levelled the series 2-2. The T20 series now moves to Bengaluru for the fifth and final match of the series that will decide the winner.
