ATK Mohun Bagan has some solid history behind them in the I League and in the Indian Super League having won three titles in the ISL. They won them under the banner of Atlético de Kolkata in 2014, 2016 and in the 2019-20 season.  The team was rechristened as ATK Mohun Bagan in 2020 -2021 and did well in the two seasons played.

They attained the second position in 2021 and third position in 2022 and will be looking for a title this time around, considering the depth that ATK Mohun Bagan possesses in their squad.

ATK Mohun Bagan had to suffice with third place on the table in ISL 2021-22 after failing to live up to their expectations at the halfway stage of the season. The Mariners played outstanding football to pick a winning streak later on in the season as they bagged vital points to ensure a playoff spot. They went down fighting to Hyderabad FC 3-2 on aggregate and missed out on what would have been their fourth ISL title.

Juan Fernando the man who scripted the turnaround for them last season has been a person who is sought after in football circles due to his experience. He has been a shrewd tactician and will look to lead ATK Mohun Bagan well in his second consecutive season with them. The club under Ferrando went on to relish an unbeaten streak of 13 matches, winning 8 and drawing 5.

The strength of ATK has been their solid defence which has fluidity as the back line is strong and now is further strengthened with the arrival of three foreign centre-backs.

The weaknesses will be an overreliance on Indian forwards and how they will fare in the absence of key players like Sandesh Jhingan and Roy Krishna who were a vital part of the setup.
