Australia and South Africa are locking horns in a three-match Test series. The first Test between the two is being played at the Gabba in Brisbane. The two sides will be looking for vital Test Championship points in the race for the qualification in the finals.

In the first Innings when Australia were bowling, Nathan Lyon, who had bowled three balls into his fourth over, managed to get Marco Jansen for just 2 runs off 19 balls. The wicket had pace and bounce at the Gabba and has been tagged as one of the fastest wickets in recent times.

One ball prior to the dismissal, Ricky Ponting had predicted the wicket of Jansen and got it spot on. Jansen was out exactly how Ponting thought it would pan out.

Here is the video:

The First Test match is evenly poised between the two sides as of now

Ponting has been spot on with his analysis and his way of reading the game is wonderful. He has beautiful foresight for the game and the master was at work again. South Africa, in their first innings, got all out for just 152. The Australian quicks ran all over them

Mitchell Starc picked up 3-41 in his 14 overs. Scott Boland claimed 2 for 28 in his 11 overs, while Pat Cummins finished with figures of 2-35 in his 12.2 overs.

Lyon also picked up 3-14 in his eight over spell. Then South Africa struck thrice with the ball when Australia came out to bat and reduced them to 73-3, at the time of writing. Waner went for a duck, while Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne got out after scoring just 11 each. They both hit 2 boundaries each in their brief stay at the crease.

After the three match Test series against South Africa, Australia will play four Tests in India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
