The Asian Games 2023 is currently underway. India reached a milestone of 100 medals at the ongoing multinational event. The Indian women's kabaddi team won a gold medal after beating Chinese Taipei at the 19th Asian Games. The country's total medal tally crossed a historic milestone mark on Saturday morning. This is the first time in history that India has achieved this feat. Recently, India won the Badminton doubles Men's making it 26 Gold, 35 silver, and 40 bronze medals.
They won medals in wrestling, archery (recurve), hockey, sepaktakraw, and bridge. Medals were also confirmed by the men's cricket and both kabaddi teams however official stamp came on Saturday. The day began with 95 medals. The Blues got their cemented five medals. Four in archery and one in kabaddi to officially reach the century. India beat their previous best of 70 medals at the last edition in Jakarta in 2018 by a huge margin.
This is the second time India has won over 100 medals in any of the three international games. The country won 101 medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. But this time, they will cross this mark and make a new history of the multinational event with more games left.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated the athletes and called it a huge milestone for India at the Asian Games. In a post on Twitter, PM Modi wrote, "A momentous achievement for India at the Asian Games! The people of India are thrilled that we have reached a remarkable milestone of 100 medals. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our phenomenal athletes whose efforts have led to this historic milestone for India. Every awe-inspiring performance has made history and filled our hearts with pride. I look forward to hosting our Asian Games contingent on the 10th and interacting with our athletes."
India Kabbadi Men and Cricket team are currently playing for the Gold Medal match. Against Iran and Afghanistan respectively.
