India have secured a total of 35 medals which comprised nine gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The Asian Games is a multi-sport event that takes place every four years, and it involves athletes from countries in Asia. The event is governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Asian Games feature a wide range of sports, including both Olympic sports and non-Olympic sports. Over the years the Indian team have improved a lot when it comes to upgrading their standards or even the medals tally for that matter.

So far, the Asian games have been great for the Indian contingent. At the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, India secured a total of 35 medals which comprised nine gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze. Notably, shooters have been the driving force behind India's success, clinching 19 medals which included six gold, eight silver, and five bronze. Additionally, gold medals have been earned in women's cricket, equestrian, and tennis.

Apart from shooting, rowing has contributed significantly, yielding two silver and three bronze medals. Sailing, equestrian, and tennis have also added to India's medal tally, with one gold each. Cricket, squash, wushu, and athletics have each brought home a medal. In fact, in the case of the Equestrian, the Indian team recreated history as they won the gold medal after 41 years of long wait.

The specific gold medal-winning events for India include 10m Air Pistol Team Men, 10m Air Rifle Team Men, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Men, 10m Air Pistol Women, 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women, 25m Pistol Team Women, Women's Cricket, Equestrian Dressage Team, and Tennis Mixed Doubles.

Shooters have produced several multi-medal performers

Among Indian athletes at the Asian Games, shooters have produced several multi-medal performers. Esha Singh, a pistol shooter, secured an impressive four medals, comprising one gold and three silver. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar also emerged as a standout with a total of four medals—two gold, one silver, and one bronze. The accomplished rifle shooter Ashi Chouksey achieved three medals, consisting of two silver and a bronze.

Other Indian athletes with two medals each include Palak Gulia (gold & silver), Sift Kaur Samra (gold & silver), Anush Agarwalla (gold & bronze), Ashish (silver & bronze), Punit Kumar (silver & bronze), Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (silver & bronze), Ramita Jindal (silver & bronze), Bheem Singh (silver & bronze), and Jaswinder Singh (silver & bronze).
