India failed to mimic their best from the first match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022. The two teams faced yet again in the tournament in the Super 4 round on Sunday. It was all about Pakistani batters and Mohammad Rizwan, in specific, who thrived hard to clinch the victory for the Men in Green.

Indian batters, after being put in to bat first, managed to get a decent total of 181. But the highlight of the first innings was the Pakistani wicketkeeper injuring himself. Rizwan tried to stop a bouncer and ended up cramping his knee after landing hard on the ground. The injury did not look severe but the player looked in extreme pain.

After a brief break, the match resumed again and Indian batter Virat Kohli played a neat knock to stay on strike until he crumbled in the last over. However, the Pakistani wicketkeeper opened the innings for the Men in Green and ended up top scoring for the team. Mohammad Rizwan ended up amassing 71 runs at a good strike rate of around 140.

However, the cricket board of Pakistan has now revealed in a statement that the right-handed batter has been taken to hospital post the clash. The board further clarified that the batter will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan to determine the extent of his injury. Despite being not fit, the 30-year-old bounced back in the second half to contribute to the team.

Pakistan's next stop against Afghanistan

Post victory against India, Pakistan will next face Afghanistan in the Super 4 round on Wednesday. The Afghanistan team will come into the match on the back of a defeat against Sri Lanka. The match will be crucial for the Men in Green, who aim to clinch the title for the third time.

Afghanistan won't be an easy team to defeat either as they dominated the group stage. However, a win here for Pakistan would take them closer to the finals to be played on September 11. Afghanistan, on the other hand, would look to bounce back from the defeat.
