The debate regarding the most intelligent cricketer ever is probably over when India registered victory in the second test against Bangladesh to sweep the series 2-0. Ravichandran Ashwin’s valiant performance with both bat and ball in the second Test helped India to come away unscathed.

India always had a record of not losing the Test fixture against Bangladesh, but the record was in danger, as India found themselves 74 for the loss of seven wickets. The situation was hostile when Ravichandran Ashwin walked in to bat. India needed 71 runs with just three wickets in hand. Everyone expected Shreyas Iyer to take the team over the line, but it was Ashwin who not only held the fort but scored magnificently after the initial scares.

Ravichandran Ashwin scored unbeaten 42 from 62 deliveries with four fours and one six to his name. The Chennai based player scored two back to back eye-pleasing boundaries to seal the game.

In the second Test, Ravichandran Ashwin not only helped the team with the bat but also with the ball. In the first innings, though he leaked runs at the beginning, he helped the team to clean up the tail. He claimed four wickets at the expense of 71 runs in his 21.5 overs.

In the second innings, Ravichandran Ashwin delivered for India with two crucial wickets. He cleaned Najmul Hossain Shanto at the start of the innings, whereas he picked the wicket of Taijul Islam to put the breaks on Bangladesh innings. He conceded 66 runs before picking two wickets in 22 overs. These all round performances helped him win the Player of the Match/Man of the Match award.
