Star West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran ended the five T20I series against India as the top run scorer, scoring 176 runs. Pooran in the fifth T20I with his 47 (35) along with Brandon King’s 85* (55) helped the Caribbean side chase down the target of 166 runs. whereas the West Indies won the 20-over format fixture by 3-2 after winning the last game by eight wickets with 12 balls remaining. 

Pooran received the Player of the Series award after the game and even had bruises to show for his most recent innings. In a social media post, the explosive batter shared an image of the mark he got off King’s shot on Arshdeep’s delivery that hit him in his left forearm as he was at the non-striker’s end at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill. 

“The after-effects thank you Brandon King and Arsdeep,” Pooran wrote as a caption for the social media image.

It is pertinent to mention that the Southpaw batter plays for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Indian Premier League (IPL) and helped LSG to reach the play-off round in IPL 2023. However, Pooran is in good form this year as he came with a century for Mumbai Indians New York in the Major League Cricket (MLC) final 2023 before playing this T20I series  Looking at the game, Pooran and King 107 runs partnership for the second wicket after losing the opener Kyle Mayers in the second over helped Indies side in chasing the target comfortably with at least two overs still left. 

Whereas in the India tour of the West Indies, the home side came strong after losing the Test and ODI series against India, as Team India lost the longer format of the game by 1-0 and the 50-over format fixture by 1-2. The Rovman Powell-led side was brilliant in the T20I series, as they started the series with back-to-back wins against the Hardik Pandya-led side, and now with the decider game win, they clinched the series by 3-2.
