After losing the first two encounters of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad played against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who won their first two fixtures of the league at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, on Sunday.

Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, the PBKS were able to score only 143 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the side was their skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who played a marvelous knock of 99 runs from 66 balls, which included 12 fours and five sixes. The second highest scorer for the side, was the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup's Player of the Tournament, Sam Curran, who scored 22 runs from 15 balls, including three fours and a six.

'I am glad that the Hyderabad crowd still remembers me': Shikhar Dhawan

For the home side, the pick of the bowlers was the debutant, Mayank Markande, who snapped four wickets in his spell of four overs and conceded just 15 runs. Two wickets each were taken by South Africa's seamer Marco Jansen and India's pace gun from Jammu and Kashmir, Umran Malik, in their respective spells.

Jansen conceded 16 runs in his spell of three overs with one maiden over and, on the other hand, Malik conceded 32 runs in his spell of four overs. India veteran seamer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar also grabbed one wicket in his spell of four overs, where he conceded 33 runs.

"I am glad that the Hyderabad crowd still remembers me. I have played a few ones, this was one of the best maybe. It is good because I played till the end and the wickets were falling from the other end. So, we have got to a respectable total and given ourselves a chance," star India opener was quoted as saying in the mid-innings interview.
