India won the third and final match of the ODI series by 200 runs. The match was played at the Brain Lara Stadium, Tarouba, in Trinidad on Tuesday, August 1. The Men in Blue clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1. Shubman Gill was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant batting performance in the first innings, The other opener, Ishan Kishan was awarded the Player of the Series as he scored three consecutive fifty-plus scores.

If we talk about the match, the Windies skipper, Shai Hope won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors while batting first, scored a mammoth total of 351 runs with the loss of five wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for team India was Gill who scored 85 runs off 92 balls with 11 fours in his innings. Kishan scored 77 runs from 64 balls which included eight fours and three sixes in his innings.ย

In the end, Hardik Pandya played an unbeaten knock of 70 runs from 52 balls with four fours and five sixes in his innings. For the hosts, two wickets were snapped by Romario Shepherd in his spell where he conceded runs in his spell. One wicket each was grabbed by Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Yannic Cariah.

The Caribbean's while chasing a mammoth total of 352 runs, they were bundled out for 151 runs. The big players like Kyle Mayers, Hope, and Shimron Hetmyer failed to score once again. The pick of bowlers for the Indian team were Shardul Thakur and Mukesh Kumar. Where one side Thakur took four wickets while on the other hand, Kumar bagged three wickets.

"Very special for me, I was looking for a big score but unfortunately that didn't happen and I'm happy that we ended up on the winning side. It was a good pitch, initially, the ball was coming on nicely and as the ball got older it became tough to hit. In the last game, I was set and looking for a big one and tried to accelerate, you gotta keep putting the pressure on the opposition as that's how the ODI game have evolved recently. I just try to do my best and not think too much about who's playing or not," Gill was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
