Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian allrounder, is out of action post his injury and will be back to competitive cricket for the Bangladesh tour in December. As things stand, the left-handed batter revealed an interesting interaction with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, way back in 2010.
Talking to Free Press Journal, Jadeja said that he first met Modi for the first time in 2010, when the then-team India captain MS Dhoni introduced him during a match against South Africa in Ahmedabad. The southpaw further said that the Prime Minister told the Indian captain to take care of Jadeja, as he hails from Gujarat as well.
“I had first met him (Modi) in 2010 in Ahmedabad. He was the chief minister of Gujarat back then. We (India) had a match against South Africa in the Motera Stadium. Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), who was our captain back then introduced me to him,” Jadeja was quoted as saying in the video released by Free Press Journal.
I felt really good when he said this: Ravindra Jadeja
Saying that he was moved by the words from the honourable PM, Jadeja said that it felt nice to have a personal message from a person of such high stature. Reasonably, Jadeja has been rooted to his hometown and has always been closer to people hailing from the state.
“Modi Sahab ne khud bola ki ‘bhai ye toh apna ladka hai, dhyaan rakhna (Modi Sahab said himself, ‘He’s our boy, take care of him)’. He said so with a laugh while being in a light mood. That’s when you feel…. a person of such big stature comes to you and says this personally. Ek alag si feeling aati hai. I felt really good when he said this,” said Jadeja further.
India missed the allrounder’s services in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and against England in the knockouts in specific. The Men in Blue would hope that the veteran would make a sound comeback in the battle against the Bangla Tigers and regain his form at the earliest.
