Australia needed only 7 runs in the last four deliveries to win the warm-up match against India on Monday. Shami bowled a fuller-length delivery to Pat Cummins, which the latter smacked straight over long-on.
The ball would have easily gone for a six had Virat Kohli not taken a sensational one-handed screamer. Kohli, who was stationed at the long-on, timed his jump to perfection as he plucked the ball with only one hand.
The catch turned the game around as India ended up winning the match by 6 runs. Virat Kohli’s catch drew a lot of praise all across the globe. Sunil Gavaskar in the commentary panel went on to say that ‘Kohli is worth his place in the team for his fielding alone.’

"He's worth his place in the team for his fielding alone and he's proved that again," said Sunil Gavaskar in the commentary box.
Notably, Virat Kohli’s wife and Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma also loved Virat’s athleticism on the field. She even shared the video of Virat Kohli’s catch on her Instagram story and wrote, “beauty! One-handed screamer.”

With the bat, Virat Kohli scored 19 runs in just 13 deliveries in that game. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav scored respective half-centuries, helping India notch a respectable score of 186 runs on the board. In reply, Australia were restricted to 180 in their 20 overs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was, once again, brilliant in the power play but it was Mohammed Shami who drew attention with his last-over brilliance. He picked three wickets and gave away just 4 runs, helping India snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
In just one over, Shami has silenced all the critics who doubted his credentials in the shortest format of the game. With Bumrah no longer in the team, he could be the answer to India’s death bowling woes in the tournament.
India will be playing one more warm-up match against New Zealand on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how Shami fares with the ball in that game.
