India went head-to-head against Bangladesh in their fourth match of the 20-20 World Cup on Wednesday. Bangladesh captain Shakib-al-Hasan won the toss and invited India to bat first at the Adelaide Oval. The struggling Indian opening duo of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul walked out to the middle to give their side a blistering start to their innings.

Rohit Sharma struggled with the bat early on and lost his wicket after scoring 2 off 8 balls. However, KL Rahul looked determined to score big amid wild uproar all over the country to drop him from the eleven. After taking his time early on, Rahul began to play shots all around the ground while Virat Kohli played as a second fiddle to him. The opener brought up his fifty in 31 balls but got dismissed on the very next ball.

Following Rahul’s wicket, Suryakumar Yadav walked to the crease and took the attack on the Bangladesh bowlers right from the word go. SKY scored a quick-fire 30 off 16 balls to keep the scoreboard moving at a quicker rate. After losing SKY’s wicket, Kohli pressed on the accelerator and went berserk at the end.

He got good support from Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored a quick-fire 13 off 6 balls. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 64 off 44 balls to take India to 184/6 in 20 overs. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh as he picked up 3/47 in four overs.

Bangladesh’s reply got off to a fiery start as Litton Das launched an all-out attack on India from the first ball itself. The opener took on Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to reach his half-century in 21 balls. Bangladesh managed to score 66/0 in 7 overs as the rain came pouring down at the Adelaide Oval.

Bangladesh were 17 runs ahead of the DLS score as the rain looked relentless. However, the rain Gods answered India’s prayers as the play resumed with the match reduced to 16 overs per side. The revised target set for Bangladesh was 151.

The Indian team walked out to the middle after the rain delay determined to come back into the match. KL Rahul ran out the dangerous Litton Das on just the second ball after the play resumed. Bangladesh had a dramatic collapse as they went from 68/0 to 102/5 with their captain Shakib-al-Hasan back in the pavilion.

The required 31 off the last 12 balls with Hardik Pandya leaking 11 runs in the 15th over. Arshdeep Singh held his neve under pressure in the final over and bowled India to a five-run win in a thrilling last over. Arshdeep and Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets each. Virat Kohli was awarded ''Player of the match' for his stupendous knock.
