Earlier this week, the Indian Cricket Board and Apex Cricket Council announced the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup. India will host the marquee event from October 5 to November 19 in 12 different cities. Ahead of the prestigious tournament, fans are eagerly waiting for the release of tickets.
However, in the latest news report, it has been informed that the Apex Cricket Council will release tickets in the first week of July. This has come as good news for fans, as advance booking for hotels and train tickets has already started. In some hotels in Ahmedabad, the per-night room fare is soaring by more than 10 times. It's worth noting that India will host the World Cup in cities like Ahmedabad, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Dharamshala.
Out of these 10 cities, nine will host India's league matches. The Indian team will start their campaign against Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It will be followed by facing Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11. Rohit Sharma and the company will then head to Ahmedabad to face arch-rival Pakistan on October 15. The Indian team will then head to Pune to face Bangladesh before playing New Zealand in Dharamshala on October 22.
Where can fans buy tickets from?
As per the news reports, all tickets will be available on the official website of the Cricket World Cup. It will also be available on booking sites like Paytm Insider, BookMyShow, and others. Fans can estimate that the ticket price might cost anywhere between ₹500 and ₹ 50,000, depending on their choices.
Meanwhile, politics over the venues and allocation of games have also started. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer alleged bias by the Indian Cricket Board. They alleged that the board overused Ahmedabad and Dharamshala because of political interference.
