The grand finale of Asia Cup 2023 is set to showcase an intense showdown between Sri Lanka and India at Colombo's R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday, September 17. Throughout the tournament, both teams have displayed exceptional form, earning their spots in the championship match through impressive performances. This match will also be marking the 250th appearance of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in One Day Internationals.

Recently, in the match against Sri Lanka Rohit also completed his 10000 ODI international runs which also made him the second fast Indian to achieve this landmark. In the 249 ODIs that the prolific right-hand batter has played, he has scored 10031 runs with a healthy average of 48.69 and an astonishing strike rate of 90.26.

The legendary India batter has effortlessly notched up three ODI double-hundreds. Among the list of his achievements, the India skipper has also clinched victory in six IPL editions during the tournament's initial 15 editions. In addition to this, the prolific right-hand batter has also slammed five centuries at the 2019 ODI World Cup. When he eventually had the opportunity to open in Test cricket in 2019, the eye-pleasing opener swiftly compiled three centuries in his maiden series in this new role which also included an impressive double hundred. The Indian skipper has also hit 286 sixes in the history of ODI cricket.

Washington Sundar will join the team ahead of Asia Cup final

India has called upon all-rounder Washington Sundar to replace the injured Axar Patel in the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka. Axar sustained minor injuries during India's loss to Bangladesh in the Super 4 stage. Sundar, initially not part of India's ODI World Cup squad, will join the Asian Games 2023 campaign.

Currently in the Asian Games-bound cricket squad camp until September 23, Sundar will rejoin after the Asia Cup final. Having played 16 ODIs, he brings both batting and bowling skills. Axar contributed decently in two Asia Cup 2023 matches, but Sundar's inclusion aims to strengthen India's squad for the crucial final against Sri Lanka.
