Senior Indian cricketer and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul shared a photo of himself walking on clutches just days after undergoing successful surgery on his right thigh. Rahul suffered an injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and was ruled out of the remaining matches of the season as well as India's Test Championship squad.

The 31-year-old shared an update on his health on Twitter on 9th May, along with a note of gratitude to the medical staff and doctors following his successful surgery. The right-handed batter said that he is officially on the road to recovery and is determined to get back on the field.

“Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery – it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly. I’m officially on the road to recovery now. I’m determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!”, Rahul wrote.

On Saturday, May 13, the wicketkeeper batter took to Instagram to share a photo of himself wandering through the streets of London on clutches, captioned "Out and about."

Rahul's injury is a major setback for India ahead of the Test Championship final

Rahul hurt his right thigh while rushing to save a boundary hit by RCB captain Faf du Plessis off a Marcus Stoinis delivery in the first innings of the LSG vs RCB match on May 1. The LSG opener was finding it difficult to walk and lay on the ground for some time in pain. He was then taken off the ground with the help of the team physio.

A few days after the horrible incident, Rahul confirmed on social media that he will miss the rest of the IPL 2023 and Test Championship final, which will begin on June 7 at the Oval in London. He will now undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru under the supervision of Indian Cricket Board doctors and physios.

His injury has had an impact not just on the LSG's IPL 2023 campaign, but also on Team India ahead of the marquee event against Australia. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board announced wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan as Rahul’s replacement in the Test Championship squad.
