Indian Cricket Board’s new president, Roger Binny heaped praise on Virat Kohli after his outstanding knock against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup. Speaking at his felicitation ceremony at the Karnataka State Cricket Association on Friday, Binny praised Kohli for snatching a win from the jaws of defeat against Pakistan.

"It was like a dream for me. Couldn't realise the way the ball was being hit in the park by Kohli. It was a fantastic victory. You never see such matches where most of the time the match was in Pakistan's favour and all of a sudden it came back to India. Good for the game as it's what the crowd wants to see," BCCI president Binny was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

"Kohli didn't have to prove himself. He is a class player and players like him thrive in pressure situations, pressure brings out the best of them," added Binny.

Virat Kohli is currently India’s leading run-getter in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. He hasn’t been in the best of form for the last few years. However, Kohli has looked in different touch since coming back from a break. He first ended his century drought in the Asia Cup 2022 and also finished as India’s highest run-getter in the tournament.

Later, he scored crucial half-centuries in the home series against South Africa and Australia. He then played a match-winning 82 off 53 balls against Pakistan to help India begin their World Cup campaign with a 4-wicket win.

In the next match against the Netherlands, Virat Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 62 runs in 44 deliveries, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Thanks to his knock, India posted a formidable score of 179 runs at the end of the first innings.

The Men in Blue restricted the Netherlands to 123 runs in the second innings and, thereby, won the game by 56 runs. India will be playing their next match against South Africa on Sunday.
