Abu Dhabi T10 League: Bangla Tigers appoint Shakib Al Hasan as their captain; S Sreesanth to mentor the side

The fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League will get underway and now it has been revealed that the Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will lead the Bangla Tigers team in the upcoming season. The Bangla Tigers will be mentored by S Sreesanth, the former Indian bowler.

Abu Dhabi T10 League is one of the fast-paced tournaments in the world and players all around the world have participated in it. The former Bangladesh all-rounder and the head coach of the Bangladesh national side, Aftab Ahmed will be the head coach of the Bangla Tigers team and Nazmul Abedin Fahim will be his deputy as he will don the assistant coach role.

Shakib Al Hasan will also lead the Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup 2022 and it will be a great experience for the veteran. Speaking of Sreesanth, this will be the first instance of the former Indian mentoring a team and he'll look to do well for his side.

The former Indian was a sensation once and had to be ruled out of competitive cricket due to controversies that surrounded his life. This should be a good comeback for him and he might see a future in this role.

New Zealand batter Colin Munro will also join the squad for the upcoming season and the platinum player Evin Lewis will make his way back into the squad. Matheesha Pathirana, fondly known as 'Baby Malinga' will also be a part of the squad and Pakistani lead pacer, Mohammad Amir will inspire the youngsters to do well for the team.

Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury, the owner of the Bangla Tiger opined that it was fair to have a player from Bangladesh to lead the squad. "It is befitting that Shakib plays for the Bangla Tiger and lead the squad. He is a charismatic leader and we have high expectations from him. We were always keen to include him in the squad but due to his busy schedule with the national team, we were unable to secure him till this season," he was quoted as saying.
