Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul has been one of the most important batters for the Indian Cricket Team in recent times. He has been phenomenal for the team and would have played the most important role for the Indian team in the upcoming World Test Championship finals. However, Rahul has been ruled out of the tournament as he injured his hamstring during an IPL game between LSG and RCB.

Rahul took on social media and said, "After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it's been concluded that I'll be undergoing surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It's a tough call to make, but I know it's the right one to ensure a full recovery."

"As the team captain, it pains me deeply not to be able to be there during this crucial period. But, I'm confident that the boys will rise to the occasion and give their best performance as always. I'll be cheering for them from the sidelines with all of you, watching every game. @lucknowsupergiants"

"Absolutely gutted that I won't be at the Oval next month with Team India. I'll do everything I can to get back in the blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority. @indiancricketteam", he said.

Big setback for Indian Cricket Team ahead of WTC finals

Ahead of the prestigious World Test Championship finals Indian team is suffering from injuries. After Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and pacer Jasprit Bumrah, batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer also got injured ahead of the tournament. This will surely trouble the Indian team in the most important game as the majority of the players have to switch from the T20 format. Players including skipper Rohit Sharma are currently busy with their franchises in the Indian Premier League 2023.

Notably, India is set to face Australia in the finals at the Iconic Oval Cricket Ground in London from June 7. The prestigious tournament will end the second Test Championship cycle. In the first cycle, New Zealand clinched the Test mace after beating India in the finals on Lord's last year.
