England and Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane has agreed to join the German Club Bayern Munich. Spurs are said to have accepted a deal worth more than €100 million (£86.4 million) for their star striker after rejecting a number of bids in recent weeks.

The England captain will fly to Germany for a medical on Friday. The Bundesliga champions are willing to pay Tottenham £86m up front for Kane, with add-ons taking the deal close to £100m a record for the club. He is expected to wear the No. 9 shirt in Germany.

Harry Kane leaves a Premier League legend

Kane came up through Tottenham's youth system and is the club's all-time greatest scorer, with 280 goals in 435 games. The 30-year-old is understood to have wanted his future resolved before the start of the English Premier League (EPL) season, with Spurs facing Brentford in their first game on Sunday.

With 213 goals since his debut in 2011, he is second only to Alan Shearer (260) in Premier League history. He also holds the record for most international goals scored by England, with 58. The striker scored 30 Premier League goals last season in a disappointing campaign for Spurs as they finished eighth to miss out on European football, while they remain without a trophy since 2008. In his 435 appearances for the North London side, he has scored 280 goals.

The striker would have the opportunity to play in the Winners League for Bayern, who have won the previous 11 German league titles and are six-time European winners. His presence in Germany would be a coup for the whole Bundesliga, but especially for Bayern, who are hoping he can replace the vacancy left by Robert Lewandowski's departure to Barcelona a year ago.

Bayern Munich's former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel allegedly paid Kane a visit in May to persuade him of the merits of moving to Germany. Bayern's pursuit of another English player, Manchester City defender Kyle Walker, looks to have fallen.

The English Premier League starts today with the defending champions Manchester City taking on Burnley away from home.
