'Ab toh aadat si hai aise jeene me' - Fans react as LSG defeat RCB by 1 wicket in IPL 2023 in last-ball thriller

After losing the last encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a huge deficit of 81 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M. Chinnaswammy Stadium in Bangalore. LSG won the match by one wicket and Nicholas Pooran was awarded the Player of the Match for his extraordinary innings.

If we talk about the fixture, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper, KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first. The RCB openers, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli started off the innings very well. Both the batters together put on a partnership of 96 runs in 69 balls before the former Men in Blue skipper was dismissed by India veteran leg-spinner, Amit Mishra. Before going back to the pavilion, Kohli scored 61 runs off 44 balls with four fours and fours sixes.

Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis guided Lucknow Super Giants to victory

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Du Plessis slammed a monstrous six on the fourth ball of the 14 over which was bowled by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. The ball was dropped short, and the former South Africa skipper smashed it for a marvellous six of 115 metres.

After the 34-year-old’s wicket, star Australia all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell came into the crease. He along with the skipper built up a partnership of 115 runs before Maxwell was sent back to the pavilion by Mark Wood. Before going back to the dressing room, the off-spinner scored 59 runs from the 29 balls he played. His innings included six brilliant sixes and three fours. Du Plessis played an unbeaten knock of 79 runs off 46 balls which included five fours and five sixes.

RCB finished their innings at 212 runs with the loss of only two wickets. The visitors chased down the mammoth total of 213 runs on the last ball of the match. The highest scorer for LSG was Marcus Stoinis who scored 65 runs off 30 balls which included six fours and two sixes. Pooran scored a match-winning knock of 62 runs from just 19 balls with four fours and seven sixes.
