The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is set to kick off on March 31 as the Indian cricket board announced the schedule of the mega event last week. The latest edition of the Men’s T20 League will have 74 matches where ten franchises will compete for the title. Defending champions Gujarat franchise will take on four-time champions Chennai franchise in the curtain raiser at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai franchise did not have a great year last time but the men in yellow cannot be written off as they are always known for good comebacks. Chennai is placed in Group B this year along with Punjab, Gujarat, Hyderabad, and Bangalore franchises. The excitement of cricket fans will be much higher this time as the teams are playing matches at their home ground as well. This could be the last Indian T20 League for the former India captain, who had earlier said that he would like to hang up his boots after playing in front of the Chennai crowd.

Meanwhile, Chennai star bowler Deepak Chahar has confirmed that he is fully fit and ready for the 2023 Indian T20 League. The pacer has been out of international cricket for some time now as he has been struggling with a hamstring injury. Chahar returned for the Bangladesh tour but was sent back to the NCA following a recurrence of the injury. The 29-year-old was Chennai's 14 crore pick but missed the entire league last year due to injury.

Chennai fans are happy that their key bowler is ready to play this time, but some cricket fans are not completely happy with the news as the players are coming back only for the league matches and not for their country. Earlier, Mumbai pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was ruled out of the international team due to injury, was also confirmed to be back in the T20 tournament.

Here is Chennai's Indian T20 League 2023 squad: MS Dhoni (c), Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Subhranshu Senapati, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, Ravindra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chowdhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Simarjeet Singh, Deepak Chahar, Prashant Solanki, Maheesh Theekshana, Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes, Shaik Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, Kyle Jamieson, Ajay Mandal, Bhagath Varma
