The Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium witnessed a special graphic for the dot balls bowled. The broadcaster replaced the dot balls with a symbol of a tree on the scorecard.
This is done as the Indian Cricket Board has taken a pledge to plant 500 trees for each dot ball in the playoffs of the ongoing season of IPL. The fans were puzzled looking at the tree symbol after they replaced the traditional symbol of dot balls in the over's column at the bottom right of the screen during the ongoing clash between CSK and GT.
It is noted that the green tree symbol will represent the dot ball bowled, which also denotes the initiative by the Indian Cricket Board to plant 500 trees for every dot ball bowled during the knockout stage of IPL 2023.
Talking about the match, after being asked to bat first by GT skipper Hardik Pandya, CSK had a flying start as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon put up an opening partnership of 87 runs in 10.3 overs. Gaikwad got out after scoring 60 runs off 44 balls, hitting seven fours and a maximum. In the very next over, Shivam Dube lost his wicket to Noor Ahmad after scoring just 1 run.
After that, Conway and Ajinkya Rahane tried to take the innings further with a small partnership of 31 runs for the third wicket. Rahane got out on the last ball of the 15th over after scoring 17 off 10 balls with a six, while Conway also lost his wicket in the next over after scoring 40 runs off 34 balls hitting four boundaries. After his dismissal, Ambati Rayudu got out after playing a quickfire knock of 17 runs off 9 balls with a four and a six.
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja scored on the final ball of the innings by Mohammed Shami after scoring 22 runs off 16 balls with two boundaries, as CSK posted 172 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. For GT, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma scalped 2 wickets each, while Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and Darshan Nalkande shared a wicket each.
