AB de Villiers, the former South African skipper, is all set to mentor underprivileged children in India. The South African cricketer has collaborated with an NGO named 'Make A Difference (MAD)', which has been thriving to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
The former Bangalore batter will spend his time with the NGO to improvise the lives of children. MAD is reportedly working to back the children from the age of ten until they turn twenty-eight and settle down in life.
AB de Villiers has often expressed his love for India and his desire to give something back to the country. He, recently, stated that he was delighted to be involved with the NGO while extending his support to two young people.
"India has been incredibly kind to me over the years, and I am always looking for ways to give something back. I am happy to be associated with MAD and will mentor two young people supported by the team. The NGO offers consistent support to children born into extremely difficult circumstances until they break the cycle of poverty. Their work is incredible," the 38-year-old was quoted as saying.
The Warmbad-born will initially mentor 19 year-old Ayan from Lucknow who aims to represent India Cricket Team in the future. The former South African will also mentor a 21-year-old Anitha from Bangalore who is currently studying journalism. The CEO of the 'Make A Difference', Jithin Nedumala expressed his joy in associating with AB de Villiers.
He said that he was delighted to have a global icon, AB de Villiers, on board and highlighted the impact that his arrival will bring to the NGO.
“The uniqueness of our model lies in its being volunteer-driven and we are simply delighted at having a global sporting icon like AB de Villiers supporting us. Mr. 360, as he is fondly known in India, and his support for our organisation will further strengthen our resolve to help children in need of care and protection," he said.
