Rohit Sharma will be eyeing a couple of milestones in the final of Asia Cup 2023. The Indian captain just needs to make his appearance in the match to complete the milestone. It will be the 250th match in the history of ODIs for the Indian captain. Along with that, it will also be his 450th international match in cricket across all the formats of the game. 

It will be a unique record, more so as the 36-year-old will be completing both milestones during the same match. Talking about the milestones, the Indian star cricketer recently became one of the fewest batters to cross more than 10,000 runs in ODIs. The Indian opener will look to score big on the day of the final to put a step forward towards his preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup. 

Good numbers for Rohit Sharma against Sri Lanka 

The Indian captain has been in good form in the ongoing Asia Cup. In 5 matches so far in the tournament, the Indian batter has 198 runs at a batting average of 48.50, at a batting strike rate of 107.78, including 3 fifty-plus scores. The Indian star batter has scored fifty against Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in the tournament so far.  

Having scored a fifty against Sri Lanka gives a lot of confidence to the Indian captain. Sharma has a very good record against Sri Lanka in general. Particularly in ODIs, Rohit has a fantastic record against the island nation. In 50 matches against Sri Lanka, Sharma has 1860 runs at a batting average of 46.50, at a batting strike rate of 94.37, including 6 hundred and 7 fifty.  

In the 2019 ODI World Cup, Rohit scored a hundred against Sri Lanka in the last match of the league stage. In the ongoing Asia Cup, the Indian batter scored a good fifty against Sri Lanka in Colombo. After the dismissal of Rohit, the Indian batters collapsed like a pack of cards. The form of the Nagpur-born batter will be crucial for India in the final.
