5 retired legends who might return to WWE in 2023

Five Stars who could make a comeback into WWE as the Royal Rumble is all set to begin later in San Antonio, Texas.

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is gearing up for another season and 2023 promises to be bigger, better and stronger. Royal Rumble will be played in January and the tickets have been sold like hotcakes which means the excitement is in the air.

Here we take a look at five retired players who might make a return to WWE in 2023. It will not be the first time players will be returning to the ring after retirement and it is a common sight in WWE. Ricky Steamboat earlier rejected an offer from Triple H to come back to WWE. 

5. Laycool

Laycool consists of the team of  Layla and Michelle McCool. The duo worked for WWE. They were more prominent in the Smackdown brand. They have also featured on RAW as well. They won two women’s titles in the WWE.

The two were portrayed as narcissistic and vain bullies, constantly espousing their own perfection while ganging up on others and attacking their looks. In April 2011, after spending two years, the team fell apart over disagreements. After which Layla beat McCool in a Loser Leaves WWE match.

4. Kenneth George Doane

 Kenneth George Doane under the ring name Kenny Dykstra   worked under the tutelage of Killer Kowalski and he made his debut in 2001 at the age of 15. He burst onto WWE television as Ken Phoenix. He won the Television Championship once when he was with Ohio Valley Wrestling. 

He debuted for Raw in 2006. He won the World Tag Team championship three months later in the same year. Doane would end up working as a WWE producer and would coach on the side in early 2021. He made his first National Television appearance at the age of 17 for Raw.

3. Corey Greaves

Matthew Polinsky is a retired professional wrestler under the ring name of Corey Greaves. He is signed to WWE as a commentator and analyst for Raw and SmackDown. He is a former NXT Tag Team Champion with Adrian Neville. He is also a former WWE 24/7 Champion.

He was born in Pennsylvania and was the son of a Hungarian couple. He has attended college and possesses a marketing degree. Before putting the dotted line with WWE, Keenan made several appearances for the company. On April 26, 2006, Keenan and CM Punk lost a dark match to The Gymini.

2. Paige

Paige is an English professional wrestler. She is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), under her real name Saraya. Her ring name is known as Paige. She was two-time youngest Champion of the WWE Divas and also won NXT at the inaugural edition.

Paige ranked No. 1 in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Female 50 and was named Diva of the Year by Rolling Stone in 2014. In 2018, she received the WWE Year-End Award for General Manager of the Year. In 2012, Channel 4 produced a documentary about Saraya and her family, The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family, which was adapted into the 2019 feature film Fighting with My Family.

Dwayne Douglas Johnson is known under the ring name the Rock. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He wrestled at the WWF now WWE before switching bases to acting. In 1996, Johnson's father Rocky, a longtime professional wrestler, assisted in helping him secure a contract with the WWF. He has been a five time tag team champion. 2000 Royal Rumble winner. He was also WWE’s 6 triple crown champion.

He also made his foray into acting and created a storm there. His role was famous in the Fast and Furious franchise that has been running for nine seasons. In 2006, Johnson founded the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation, a charity working with at-risk and terminally ill children. He retired from WWE in 2019.
