In a press conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar unveiled the eagerly anticipated India squad for the Cricket World Cup 2023. The team will be preparing for the massive domestic action, which begins on October 5 and includes India's opening match against Australia on October 8. There are 15 players on the team, and the duo did not reveal any reserves.

There are a few big names who missed out on being part of the squad in the tournament. Reporting to the media Rohit Sharma said it is not possible to pick everyone as there are only 15 slots available. "We looked at all the ways to look at how to get the players in. There will be some missing out and that happens every time. We can fit only 15 players. We looked at how to create a good balance and this is the best we could get," Rohit on India's squad.

5 Big names missed out on the squad:

Sundar is an off-spinner and more than that, he is a handy batter who has shown his prominence in IPL and a few international matches as well. Moreover, the tournament being played in India could have made him a great addition. Since there are Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel already in the squad, Sundar was axed from the squad.

4. Ravichandran Ashwin

One of the most experienced Off spinners in the team who has also been missed out on the squad has raised questions among the fans. As this is a long tournament Ashwin has proved to be one of the best spinners in the Indian conditions. He has also proven his batting abilities in recent times.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal

The spin wizard has been dropped from the 15-member squad announced by Indian management. There were also questions raised during the Asia Cup for selecting him for the tourney. But the reason behind that is Kuldeep doing well in recent times and also his capability of batting.

2. Sanju Samson

The selection of Rajasthan Royals Captain for the big tournaments has always been a debate, but as there are already Kl Rahul and Ishan Kishan playing in the Squad, management stepped back in selecting 3rd keeper into the squad. Also, Shreya’s inclusion closed the routes.

One of the most experienced Openers and the best partner who played with Rohit on many occasions has also been axed from the squad. As Agarkar had stated India are focusing on Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Ishan Kishan as the three openers of the team so he lacked a spot in the squad.
