The Indian T20 League has been a wonderful platform for cricketers to showcase their mettle and has never failed to justify the phrase 'when talent meets opportunity'. It has also got a catchphrase saying that you will never get an opportunity like this, elsewhere. This has been the beauty of the Indian T20 League.
The League has unearthed a lot of superstars and also it has given a lot of one-season wonders such as Paul Valthathy and Swapnil Asnodkar, who showed what they were capable of but sadly could not maintain consistency.
On that note, let's take a look at 5 players who have made their mark in the Indian T20 League but have not debuted for India:
1. Shreyas Gopal
Shreyas Gopal hails from Karnataka. In the first-class arena, he was a vital cog in the wheel for his state. In 56 matches that he played, he has scored 2431 runs and picked up 184 wickets. He has been a very capable all-rounder for his state and has had a lot of impact with his all-around skills.
When it comes to the Indian T20 League, he has fared well there too, picking up 49 wickets in 49 matches at an economy rate of 8.11. He has two hat tricks in the Indian T20 League, one of which came against Bengaluru. He was picked up by the Hyderabad side in the last edition but has been released ahead of the upcoming auction.
2. Rajat Bhatia:
Rajat Bhatia is counted amongst the most underrated players in the Indian T20 League. He could bat well down the order and also got wickets with his medium pace. In 95 matches, he has picked up 71 wickets. He has also scored 342 runs with the bat. He had a wonderful economy rate of 7.47
He had a very good equation with the Kolkata skipper, Gautam Gambhir, who used him as a pitch reader since he had played domestic cricket all over the country when he played for Delhi. He is a very experienced cricketer at the first-class level with 112 matches under his belt.
3. Pravin Tambe
He is a late bloomer when it comes to the Indian T20 League as Tambe made his debut for the Rajasthan franchise at the age of 41. In three years, he picked up 28 wickets in 33 matches. He has a superb economy rate of 7.75 and was a superb find for the Rajasthan side.
He got a chance in 2013 under the watchful eyes of the then captain Rahul Dravid, who picked Tambe for his craft over his age. He made everyone take notice of what he could do.
4. Manan Vohra
Vohra has represented Punjab, Rajasthan and Bangalore in the Indian T20 League. He has scored 1073 runs in 55 matches at a strike rate of 131.17. He has the highest score of 95 which came against Hyderabad. He was at his destructive best at the top order.
Once he left Punjab in the Indian T20 League, he was not given a lot of opportunities and faded away. Vohra was bought by the Lucknow franchise in the 2022 auction. And, he has been retained for the 2023 edition as well. He will be looking to prove his worth in the 2023 season.
5. Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi has been the kind of person who does not believe in big hitting but has impressed everyone with his batting in the Indian T20 League by playing proper cricketing shots. In the 2022 edition of the league, he scored 413 runs for the Hyderabad franchise in 14 matches which was his best season yet.
He will be seen playing for the Orange Army yet again as he has been retained by the franchise for the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League. In Indian T20 League, he has got 1798 runs, at an average of 28.09 and a marvelous strike rate of 140.79.
