India lost the second T20I against Sri Lanka by 16 runs. The high-scoring match saw both teams bat aggressively making the bowler’s life hell for the entirety of 40 overs.
Sri Lanka posted a huge total of 206/6 in 20 overs on the back of aggressive batting but a major part of it was also due to poor bowling by Indian bowlers. The Indian bowlers, primarily Arshdeep Singh who has been India’s best bowler in the recent past seemed to have lost track of the no-ball line.
It was on 5 occasions that Arshdeep Singh bowled a no ball and gave away freebies in form of Free-hit to the Sri Lanka batters. All in all the Indian bowlers gave 7 no balls in the match which amounts to 7 free hits as well.
Arshdeep Singh in particular was very poor with the ball as he gave 37 runs in just 2 overs. His economy of 18.50 was the poorest among all the bowlers in the match. He also failed to take any wickets.
India captain Hardik Pandya was visibly frustrated at the bowler and voiced his opinion on the bowler in the post-match interview. When asked about his thoughts on the loss, he said, “Going for runs is fine, but no balls aren’t. Not blaming, but Arshdeep Singh needs to go back and make sure these basic errors don’t happen at this level.”
Pandya did not mince words when reviewing the game as he called out the bowler for a basic mistake that cost the game. Soon cricket fans began commenting on Pandya’s criticism of Arshdeep Singh.
One user by the name Kittu Kolluri said, “He’s blaming in the same breath that he says he’s not blaming.” Another by the name Sudhanshu said, “Shows how poor captain Hardik is, should’ve addressed this personally in the dressing room rather than babbling in media. If such is the case, then why no words for back-to-back failures of his GT team member Shubman Gill?”
Here's how Twitter reacted to Arshdeep Singh's open criticism by Hardik Pandya:
😂 He’s blaming in the same breath that he says he’s not blaming!

Hardik would do well to see what he can do better. He’s not batting well enough. His SR is pathetic for the number of balls that he takes up. He is also u set bowling himself. Not sure about the strategy of bowling in the PP. He doesn’t move the ball much.

This is the reason why any player shouldn't be given Captaincy, instead of backing players for one bad day he's shaming him in front of the whole nation , My respect for Rohit increased after hearing this , Hardik should improve his attitude or should be removed from captaincy

Shows how poor a captain Hardik is, should've addressed this personally in dressing room rather than babbling in media.

If such is the case , then why no words for back to back failures of his GT team member Shubhman Gill ??

well , this isn't fair to blame him in front of media especially when he himself didn't perform .
Come on man, the guy took 3 crucial wickets in the most important match of his life(vs Pak at MCG). One bad day and asking him to go back.

Didn't expect these comments from Pandya, some words might become a permanent scar on someone's career.
Lol make him captain more 😂!! His arrogance is on another level Bruh, that man single handedly won us match in wc's. Respect him. Mistakes happen but as a captain you should back ur player at any cost. Much more respect to rohit and virat as always. Come harder @arshdeepsinghh

But these conversations shud hpn 1 to 1 in a matured way. Not publicly.
All those who were praising Hardik after GT won IPL. I said it many times, Captains true character is revealed when the team is not doing well.
Not when everything is going Great
The quality of Indian captains has been so good recently that an immature statement like this really sounds odd.

Praise in front of everybody, critique in private. This is a BIG FAIL and RED FLAG for Pandya as India’s future long-term captain.
@hardikpandya7 is this your leadership quality ??? This guy is not even a captaincy material. One bad day and there you go.
