India lost the second T20I against Sri Lanka by 16 runs. The high-scoring match saw both teams bat aggressively making the bowler’s life hell for the entirety of 40 overs.

Sri Lanka posted a huge total of 206/6 in 20 overs on the back of aggressive batting but a major part of it was also due to poor bowling by Indian bowlers. The Indian bowlers, primarily Arshdeep Singh who has been India’s best bowler in the recent past seemed to have lost track of the no-ball line.

It was on 5 occasions that Arshdeep Singh bowled a no ball and gave away freebies in form of Free-hit to the Sri Lanka batters. All in all the Indian bowlers gave 7 no balls in the match which amounts to 7 free hits as well.

Arshdeep Singh in particular was very poor with the ball as he gave 37 runs in just 2 overs. His economy of 18.50 was the poorest among all the bowlers in the match. He also failed to take any wickets.

India captain Hardik Pandya was visibly frustrated at the bowler and voiced his opinion on the bowler in the post-match interview. When asked about his thoughts on the loss, he said, “Going for runs is fine, but no balls aren’t. Not blaming, but Arshdeep Singh needs to go back and make sure these basic errors don’t happen at this level.”

Pandya did not mince words when reviewing the game as he called out the bowler for a basic mistake that cost the game. Soon cricket fans began commenting on Pandya’s criticism of Arshdeep Singh.

One user by the name Kittu Kolluri said, “He’s blaming in the same breath that he says he’s not blaming.” Another by the name Sudhanshu said, “Shows how poor captain Hardik is, should’ve addressed this personally in the dressing room rather than babbling in media. If such is the case, then why no words for back-to-back failures of his GT team member Shubman Gill?”
