Cricket’s governing body on Wednesday, August 9, released the revised schedule for the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup, which begins in India on October 5. The date of the marquee event’s blockbuster clash, India vs Pakistan, is one of the notable changes in a total of nine reschedulings. The arch-rivals will clash in Ahmedabad on October 14, a day earlier than the original date.

The governing body initially announced the schedule without considering the security concerns during the months of October and November due to major festivals like Navratri, Durga Puja and Diwali. The high-profile IND-PAK match was earlier slated to take place on October 15, but the day coincides with the start of the prominent Hindu festival, Navaratri.

People in Ahmedabad, the game’s venue, are heavily involved in the festival, and as a result, there is a high possibility that the authorities will not be able to manage the game effectively. There were also reports that the local police in the state have expressed concern about the security management as the India-Pakistan match will draw huge crowds to the stadium.

Meanwhile, as a side effect of this, England’s match against Afghanistan in Delhi has been moved from Saturday 14 October to Sunday 15 October. Two of India’s matches have been rescheduled, including their final league game against the Netherlands, while three of Pakistan’s matches have been rescheduled.

Here are the complete rescheduled fixtures for the 2023 ODI World Cup

England vs Bangladesh – October 10, 10:30 am IST

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka – October 10, 2 pm IST

Australia vs South Africa – Thursday, October 12 – 2 pm IST

New Zealand vs Bangladesh – Friday, October 13 – 2 pm IST

India vs Pakistan – Saturday, October 14 – 2 pm IST

England vs Afghanistan – Sunday, October 15 – 2 pm IST

Australia vs Bangladesh – Saturday, November 11 – 10:30 am IST

England vs Pakistan – Saturday, November 11 – 2 pm IST

India vs Netherlands – Sunday, November 12 – 2 pm IST

The 50-over tournament will commence on Thursday, 5 October when finalists of the previous edition, England and New Zealand, clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The final will be played at the same venue on Sunday, 19 November. Rohit Sharma and Co. will kick off their campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.
