Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are two of the biggest names in cricket. The two Indian batters have broken innumerable records in their career when it comes to runs scored.
Despite all their heroics with the bat though, the two have not been known as proficient bowlers, not Kohli at least. Although they claim to love bowling, their bowling stats has not been kind to their fondness.
The two however have dismissed some very notable batters in their careers. Let’s look at five great batters who have been dismissed by Sachin Tendulkar as well as Virat Kohli.
Brendon McCullum
The former New Zealand player was known for his aggressive batting and heroic fielding. He has also claimed the unique achievement of getting dismissed by Kohli as well as Tendulkar.
Tendulkar dismissed the now-England head coach during a Test match in Wellington in 2009.
Virat Kohli also went on to dismiss Brandon McCullum. He did so in the fifth ODI match between India and England in Wellington in 2014.
Kevin Pietersen
Legendary England batter Kevin Pietersen is the second batter who has been dismissed by both Kohli as well as Tendulkar.
Sachin dismissed Pietersen in 2007 when India toured England. The incident took place in the third Test at the Oval when Sachin dismissed Pietersen at 41 runs. The game was ultimately tied but Sachin’s 26 overs proved to be fruitful for India as it showed them a great part-time option.
Virat Kohli dismissed Pietersen in a T20I in 2011. The England batter was stumped by MS Dhoni from behind the stump in Kohli’s first-ever international over. Kohli had dragged the ball wide which prompted Pietersen to come out and try a flick. He however missed the ball and became Kohli’s first-ever scalp.
Mohammad Hafeez
The former Pakistan batter Hafeez was the third common wicket of Sachin and Kohli. The Master Blaster dismissed Hafeez in the first ODI between India and Pakistan in April 2005. Sachin took 5 wickets in the game with Hafeez becoming his fifth victim after he was caught by Ashish Nehra. As a result of Sachin’s 5/50 India won the match by 87 runs.
Kohli dismissed Hafeez in the group-stage encounter between India and Pakistan at the 20-20 World Cup in 2012. Hafeez who was playing at 15 runs was dismissed while trying to play an outside leg delivery on the offside. These three are the only batter to have been dismissed by both Sachin Tendulkar as well as Virat Kohli in international cricket.
