India and Zimbabwe will face each other in the second ODI on Saturday (August 20) at Harare Sports Club. The first ODI fared out to be a great outing for India. Deepak Chahar, Axar Patel, and Prasidh Krishna picked three wickets each, denying Zimbabwe to post a big total on the scoreboard. Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill then put on an exhibition of boundaries in the second innings and helped India register a 10-wicket win.
Indian batting order looks extremely strong for the current series and we might be in for some exciting batting display in the second ODI. Here are the potential three batters who can pile up the most runs for India in the second ODI against Zimbabwe:
1) Shubman Gill:
The Punjab-born Shubman Gill is in exceptional form and made the best use of the opportunity in the ODI series against the West Indies. The 23-year-old was awarded the Player of the Series against the Caribbean and carried on with this form in the first ODI against Zimbabwe as well as played an unbeaten 82-run knock.
Given the kind of form he is in, he might end up amassing the most number of runs for India in the second ODI against Zimbabwe. The Gujarat batter will march on to the game on the back of a solid fifty in the first ODI. It won't be surprising if the batter emulates the same intent in the next match as well.
2) Shikhar Dhawan:
Shikhar Dhawan had a great outing alongside Shubman Gill in the ODI series against West Indies. The batter looked in fine touch and also managed to remain unbeaten in the first ODI against Zimbabwe.
He put on a 192-run partnership with Shubman Gill and remained unbeaten on 81. The left-handed batter might end up scoring the most number of runs for India in the next match against Zimbabwe. The Punjab batter might also reach the three-figure mark.
3) KL Rahul:
KL Rahul is leading the Indian side and is making a comeback after a long halt pertaining to injury. He did not get to bat in the first ODI as India chased down the score without losing a wicket. However, India would be wanting him to give some game time before the start of Asia Cup and, thus, he might open the batting in the next match.
The Lucknow batter will look to get back to form and might as well play a splendid inning. No surprises if he manages to top score for India in the second ODI against Zimbabwe.
