The results of the 2023 WWE Money In The Bank (MITB) have been released following a series of high-voltage battles in London on Saturday, July 1. It was a disappointing outing for Roman Reigns, who was pinned by Jey Uso for the first time in three and a half years. The Tribal Chief and Solo Sikoa were defeated by the Usos in the Bloodline Civil War.
A loss in the 2023 MITB also resulted in Reigns and Sikoa losing their tag team bout against Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso. The Usos won a stunning victory in The Bloodline Civil War at the Premium Live Event, ending Reigns' unbeaten streak of 1294 days. The 38-year-old's previous loss was to Baron Corbin in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at WWE TLC in late 2019.
Meanwhile, World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins successfully defended his title by defeating The Judgement Day's Finn Balor in the semi-main event. It was a rematch of their Universal Championship match from SummerSlam 2016.
Damian Priest becomes Mr Money in the Bank
Damian Priest won the Ladder Match and became Mr Money in the Bank. Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Butch, LA Knight, Santos Escobar and Logan Paul were the other seven who competed in the Men’s 2023 Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
While Intercontinental champion Gunther retained his title against Matt Riddle, Cody Rhodes defeated Dominik Mysterio in a one-on-one bout.
In the women's ladder match, Iyo Sky triumphed and was crowned Miss Women's Money in the Bank. The Japanese professional surpassed Becky Lynch, Zelina Vega, Bayley, Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark.
Meanwhile, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan defeated Ronda Rousey and Shaya Baszler in the WWE Women's Tag Team Title match. Shayna's betrayal of Ronda was the key to Rodriguez-Morgan's triumph.
After successfully defending his World Heavyweight Championship, Rollins stated that Reigns' Universal title reign is special and there cannot be any comparison between them.
"I mean every single time we're out there defending this World Heavyweight Championship, we're building it up. We knew from day one, that was gonna be the goal. You look at what Roman has done for the Universal title, it's very special, there's no comparison," said Rollins.
