The first round of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 has come to a close. Two-time winners, West Indies have been knocked out of the competition. Ireland beat them by 9 wickets on Friday to secure a place for themselves in the Super 12s. On the other hand, Zimbabwe became the second team in Group B to reach the next round.

As far as the Group A is concerned, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands have progressed to the Super 12s, while Namibia and the United Arab Emirates have been eliminated. As it stands, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands are the four teams that have reached the Super 12s.

Notably, the super 12 round will begin on Saturday with a high-voltage encounter between Australia and New Zealand. Both teams met each other in the final of the previous edition of the 20-20 World Cup. India and Pakistan will lock horns with each other on Sunday in Melbourne.
