The 20-20 World Cup 2022 is just around the corner and the teams are bracing for the mega tournament. Australia will enter the tournament as the defending champions and the team looks in excellent touch. Speaking of the tournament, the Cricket’s Governing Body has announced the prize money for the mega tournament. 

To first comment on the winners, the champions of the upcoming edition will take home a whopping $1.6 million. The runners-up, on the other hand, will take home half the amount that of the champions. For the unversed, Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the finals of the iconic 20-20 World Cup 2022 on November 13. 

A total of $5.6 million prize money has been announced by the world body for the upcoming edition of the 20-20 World Cup. The losing teams from the semi-finals will take home $400,000 while the quitters from the Super 12 stage will receive $70,000 each. The winners of each game of the Super 12 round will receive a prize award of $40,000. Australia, India, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Bangladesh have made it to the Super 12 rounds directly. 

$40,000 for each first-round win in the 20-20 World Cup 2022

Namibia, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, UAE in group A and West Indies, Scotland, Ireland and Zimbabwe in group B are the remaining teams that will compete in the first round of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Speaking of the first round, teams will get $40,000 for each win. 

The teams that will bow out in the first round will receive $40,000 each amounting to a total of $160,000. The Cricket’s governing body has set the goal of improving the quality of cricket in associate nations and helping the teams come up with quality cricket. The 20-20 World Cup 2022 will be a great test for the associate nations as they will look to make a mark. Sri Lanka and West Indies, on the other hand, will look to regain their past glory and rewrite history.
