20-20 World Cup 2022: Afghanistan announce 15-member squad, Mohammad Nabi to lead the team

Afghanistan has announced the fifteen-member squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Mohammad Nabi is all set to continue his stint as the captain of the team. Afghanistan team did exceptionally well in the Asia Cup 2022 barring the Super 4 stage. The Mohammad Nabi-led team became the first ever to qualify for the Super 4 round in the continental tournament.

While the skipper failed to give his best, Rahmanullah Gurbaz stood up for the Afghanistan team at times. The wicketkeeper has retained his spot in the squad for the mega event in Australia. The player amassed as many as 152 runs at an average of 30.40 in the continental tournament.

Ibrahim Zadran, the opener, amassed 196 runs at an average of 65.33 in the continental tournament. He has retained his spot for the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in the Afghanistan team. Najibullah Zadran is all set to be the skipper’s deputy and will look to do well in the role.

Veteran spinner Rashid Khan will lead the spin battery alongside youngster Mujeeb ur Rahman. The spin department for the Afghanistan team looks extremely strong and the team has enough batting depth given the former can score a few maximums.

Naveen ul Haq will look to impress with his pace alongside Fazal Haq Farooqi. The former will look to take the world for a ride with his spine-tingling spells. On the other hand, Farid Ahmad Malik will also join the team to boost the pace attack of the Afghanistan team.

As it stands, the Afghanistan squad looks threatening and well-balanced. The experience of Mohammad Nabi can come in handy at crucial times. Albeit they are unlikely to make it through, the team has all the potential to make it count in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
