The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League will begin from March 31 with defending champions Gujarat taking on four-time champions Chennai in the curtain raiser at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With all 10 teams playing at their home ground, the excitement level is high this time among cricket lovers. Teams started preparing themselves for the mega tournament, some revealed their new jerseys, some named new captains and some started sweating out in the nets.

Chennai, led by MS Dhoni, is one of the franchises in the ITL with huge fan following across the country, they have lifted the coveted title four times and wowed the crowd with heroic match winning performances. Much to the delight of his fans, the former Indian captain is back in action as he was seen toiling hard and getting himself into the groove ahead of the tournament.

The Chennai skipper has been making headlines ever since he joined the team for the latest edition of ITL. Recently, a picture of Dhoni’s biceps while smashing over the ropes during Chennai's practice session left fans in awe. As the picture went viral on social media, many expressed their happiness to see him back on the field and praised the keeper-batter's fitness even at the age of 41.

Earlier, a video went viral on social media where Dhoni was seen practicing big hits at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The right-hander hit massive sixes and proved that he is ready to take on the young guns in the upcoming season.

ITL 2023 will probably be Dhoni's last season

The 2011 World Cup-winning captain was last seen in action during the Indian T20 League 2022. Chennai have dominated the league for years but had a forgettable season last year as they finished ninth in the points table. Last season, the franchise tried to appoint all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the captain, but the team had to hand the baton back to Dhoni after a series of failures. The 41-year-old is likely to retire after ITL 2023 and who will be their next captain will be a major headache for the franchise.

Let's see how fans reacted to Dhoni's fitness:
